It sounds like Justin Vernon has been broadening his musical horizons.
Vernon has been collaboration with Minnesota-based performance art group TU Dance for the past couple months. Their latest project is a series of live performances called Come Through that are soundtracked by Vernon. Footage has began to circulate of these live performances with samples of Vernon’s intriguing new sound.
In the clips available online, we can hear Vernon’s new influences coming through, such as elements of hip hop, rap and world music. The clip below shows off one of the songs that is an energetic, percussion-heavy dance song.
Another clip that surfaced from a song supposedly titled “I Can Hear Crying” features rapper Allan Kingdom in his most R&B-present song to date.
While there’s no word yet on a new album, Bon Iver is actively working on new music for fans, sharing a song he was still working on at a show in Richmond back in December.
