After their 2007 premiere For Emma, Forever Ago and it’s 2011 follow-up Bon Iver, Bon Iver, we haven’t heard much from the Wisconsin indie folk band. Frontman Justin Vernon has decided to take things slow with an extended break from the band.
In an interview with Grantland, Vernon said “As far as putting a record together, I don’t really know what’s happening”. He curated the brand new Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival, taking place in his home town in mid-July, where the band will play the closing set. Other than that, there really isn’t anything else in the works. The band’s “not being secretive — we just don’t have any plans.”
After being parodied by Justin Timberlake on SNL and appearing in an ad for Bushmills that he greatly regrets, Vernon said that he wouldn’t let the negative attention get to him but that “it does accumulate.” For now, they’re focusing “all of our energy into one show,” so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for future Bon Iver news.
