How do you make a Beach Boys concert even better? Bring out the Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen.
Last night at a packed show at PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey, Brian Wilson, lead singer of infamous barbershop-rock group Beach Boys, brought out his good pal Bruce to play some of his classics with him. Up until that point the show was mostly Wilson’s newer songs from his most recent LP No Pier Pressure, an album which Springsteen is even featured on.
Wearing his iconic baseball cap and jacket, Springsteen sang backing vocals for “Barbara Ann”, and jammed along to “Surfin’ USA” on his telecaster. As NJ.com points out, Brian and Boss performed the same songs together back in 2007 at another New Jersey performance.
For the entirety of this performance, Bruce who normally is the confident frontman for his band, is seen standing back, — with his cap pulled mostly over his face. Maybe he was…you know, trying not to overshadow Brian Wilson. Or maybe that’s not possible.
You be the judge, check the video above.
