Pete Shelley, Buzzcocks singer and guitarist, has died at the age of 63. The BBC confirmed the news via the band’s management on Thursday. Shelley died in Estonia, where he had been living for the past several years.
Formed in 1976, the Buzzcocks were an integral band in the rise of the Manchester music scene. The band found some mainstream success with their 1978 hit, “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve).” The Buzzcocks had tour dates scheduled for later this month, and multiple dates set for summer 2019.
Shelley, whose real name was Peter Campbell McNeish, was born in Lancashire in 1955.
