The history of Canadian rock and pop is filled with an embarrassment of riches. From to Neil Young to Robbie Robertson to Metric, Canadians have always been a part of music’s leading edge.
The Canadian indie scene is no different. Bands like BSS, Wolf Parade (R.I.P), Arcade Fire, Japandroids, and Feist are recognized as some of the most influential musical artists throughout the world. In fact, before the re-emergence of New York City’s (Brooklyn in particular) music scene, Toronto was becoming recognized as the centre of the indie universe with labels like Arts & Crafts delivering a wave of talented new artists to audiences.
This year’s Coachella festival (one of the biggest festivals in North America) is featuring many Canadian artists. In fact Canada has the third most artists of any country.
