A Canadian advertising and creative agency called Bob’s Your Uncle has announced the release of a new beer with food rescue charity, Second Harvest. Been A Slice (4.8% abv) uses bread that is getting near its best before date and turns it into beer to bring attention to the issue of food waste.

The beer uses bread from Prairie Boy Bakery and is brewed at Common Good Beer Co., who will both be contributing to Been A Slice pro bono. Outfront Media will also be advertising the beer on several billboards throughout Toronto for free. All proceeds from the sales will go to support Second Harvest, who hopes to drastically reduce the amount of food waste in Canada.
The first release of Been A Slice will be limited to 500 cases of cans at select LCBOs, Beer Stores, and bars in early November.
