The Blue Jays aren’t the only locals making themselves known in the U.S. right now. For the first time in history, five songs from four different Canadian artists (The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Drake, and Shawn Mendes) are charting in the top 10 spots on Billboard’s Top 100.
And what’s even better is that all four artists are from the Toronto area. Well, they’re at least from southern Ontario – three are from Toronto and one is from Stratford, which is close enough to include within the definition of “Toronto-area” when we like the news (yet conveniently far enough away to disassociate with when we don’t.) Say what you want about the music, but this is a pretty big win for a city striving to make itself known as a world-class music capital.
