Canadian Music Week (CMW) has officially cancelled its 2020 edition of the festival.
The 38th annual event was originally set to take place from May 19th to 23rd, and it was postponed to September 9th to 11th due to the spread of COVID-19. Now, CMW has officially cancelled its 2020 festival, as “it has become apparent that – at this point in the public health emergency – September represented too many unavoidable obstacles,” according to a statement.

The organizers behind CMW cited the issues with international artists and delegates being unable to travel and the fact that concerts and festivals will likely be the last public activities to resume as reasons for the cancellation.
CMW hopes to find a date in 2021, however, no final decisions or new dates will be announced until more details surrounding COVID-19 are revealed.
All ticketed concerts have been refunded or are in the process of being refunded, and CMW 2020 badges and wristbands will be honoured during the new dates.
