Are you so addicted to your device that when you board an airplane and they tell you to turn off your phone you silently scream “why?!?”
It was just announced that Canadian passengers will no longer have to turn off their electronic devices during takeoff and landing, but we’ll still have to keep them in “airplane mode” which means no calls, texts or internet.
Maybe it’s all the rules they shouldn’t have to follow, combined with the mini bottles of booze that make celebrities go off the deep end on planes.
Here are some of the highlights:
Before Flappy Bird there was Words With Friends, which Alec Baldwin was obviously addicted to – he locked himself in the plane’s bathroom on a flight from LA to New York so he could keep playing after the crew asked him to put it away. He complained about it on Twitter and then went on SNL to mock the pilot.
Kanye West didn’t even make it to the plane – In 2013 he “attacked” a photographer who was egging him on at LAX. His lawyer explained he was just trying to prevent the paparazzi from taking pictures but Yeezus was sentenced to two years probation, anger management and 250 hours of community service.
Courtney Love was arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport in 2003 and detained by police for nine hours after being verbally abusive to the flight crew. And on top of it all she refused to put on her seatbelt! Here’s Courtney’s own account to reporters:
“I cussed at a lady — my daughter always said I had a potty mouth … I cussed at a lady named Mary. She wasn’t letting my friend into first class and I said: ‘Why are you being such a bitch about it?'”
Snoop Dogg, aka Calvin Broadus was also at Heathrow in 2006 and thought his entourage should be allowed to party in the business class lounge. They got kicked out of the lounge and then off the flight, which led to a scuffle with police and Snoop being banned from all British Airways flights. Bad Dogg.
Remember Gerard Depardieu? Neither did we until the French actor got drunk and peed himself on a flight from Paris to Dublin and made headlines around the world. The best coverage came from Anderson Cooper who went into a giggle fit trying to report that the thespian was “thes-peein’.”
