Chandra shares new remote video for ‘Shut In / Shut Out’

All Bandcamp proceeds go to Toronto's Encampment Support Network and Through These Doors shelter

Chandra Oppenheim got her start as a post-punk wunderkind in New York’s avant-garde scene in the late 1970s and 80s. Today, Chandra — the band — have unveiled a new remote video for the song “Shut In / Shut Out” based on a demo she originally recorded at age 14 in 1983.

The song has been released via Chandra’s Bandcamp, with all proceeds being directed to Toronto’s Encampment Support Network and shelter organization Through These Doors.

“I don’t have a clear memory of what inspired it,” says Chandra in a release. “My guess is that it was meant to be a message to people who felt they were on the periphery. I was giving advice based on my experiences at middle school of feeling excluded and rejected.”
