Charli XCX is back with her explosive new pop album, CRASH.
As a pioneer of the hyperpop sound, this album feels pretty surprising for Charli. Across its 12 tracks, she hones in on a pop star sound, weaving her way into the mainstream with pulsing synths and autotune-free vocals. Ultimately, Charli is ready to bridge the gap between her hyperpop origins and the mainstream sound on CRASH.
Charli XCX collaborated with some big names on CRASH, including Rina Sawayama, A. G. Cook, the 1975’s George Daniel, and more. The press release for the new song says that Charli XCX “possessed and persuaded” the stacked guest list. She did this using her “femme fatale powers and a multitude of dark spells and curses. They will all remain locked in my basement forever.”

CRASH features previously released singles “Every Rule,” “Baby,” the Rina Sawayama collab “Beg For You,” the Christine and the Queens and Caroline Polachek collaboration “New Shapes,” and “Good Ones.”
Upon the recent release of “Baby,” Charli spoke about how it encompasses the energy of CRASH in an interview with Apple Music.
“This song, it was kind of the foundation of the vibe of the album. It’s probably the most sexy song I’ve ever made. It’s about sex and sexuality and having good sex and just feeling yourself essentially. I know that that’s the tone. I knew that was the tone I wanted to carry across for the entire record. This kind of hyper-sexualized, feminine power zone was where I was feeling myself going, and ‘Baby’ was the genesis of this.”
