Charlotte Cardin, Jesse Reyez, Half Moon Run to play limited capacity 2021 Osheaga festival

Osheaga has announced its 2021 return after all (at a limited capacity).

The Montreal festival will make its return to Parc Jean-Drapeau with just two stages from October 1st to 3rd. The forthcoming event will have performances from headliners Charlotte Cardin, Jessie Reyez, and Half Moon Run. Cardin will take to the main stage on Friday, Reyez on Saturday, and Half Moon Run on Sunday.

The full Osheaga lineup is yet-to-be-announced, but tickets go on sale tomorrow. You can purchase tickets here at 12:00 p.m.

Earlier this year, Osheaga announced that this year’s festival would be cancelled because of COVID-19. Originally, the festival planned to return from July 30th to August 1st with headliners Cardi B, Foo Fighters, and Post Malone.

This means that this year’s announcement is quite the pleasant surprise. Especially since the 2020 edition of Osheaga was also cancelled due to the pandemic.

Cardin’s performance will definitely be a standout, considering she hails from Montreal herself. Earlier this year she shared her explosive debut album Phoenix. That album made the 2021 Polaris Music Long List.

Opening with the R&B-influenced sounds on the album’s title track, Cardin sets the tone for her album. She weaves in and out of her chest and head voice as she sings lines like, “Take a second to show me/ How to burn and to rise/ I could swear I’m changing.” Cardin’s debut album doesn’t feel like a debut at all, it’s far more finessed and nuanced than a first album.
