Childish Gambino Accused Of Ripping Off 2016 Song for ‘This Is America’

Donald Glover facing plagiarism accusations over 'American Pharaoh' by New York rapper Jase Harley

Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, landed himself a critical hit with the release of his politically-charged single and video “This Is America” earlier this year. Now, Glover is facing accusations of plagiarism for allegedly ripping off a 2016 track titled “American Pharaoh” by New York rapper Jase Harley.

Harley himself has been very chill about the accusations, saying “A shout out would be cool,” on his Instagram account over the weekend. “All good tho…he’s a great artist, dope I could’ve had some influence on the record,” Harley added.

“It’s all love and support from me, glad if my record influenced his,” Harley continued.

Glover has not responded to claims that he stole the song, but co-producer of the “This Is America” video, Fam Rothstein, took to Twitter to fire back at accusers in a since deleted tweet.

“The internet is a place of no consequences. I hate that Toronto Akademiks/every white blogger can say something as gospel and y’all take it. This song is 3 yrs old, and we have Pro Tools files to prove it.” Rothstein tweeted.
