While Chvrches have been laying low recently prepping their following up to their infectious debut, The Bones of What You Believe, Lauren Mayberry is back in the spotlight responding to online misogynists.
The frontwoman recently received a very offensive comment on Instagram and was not going to be silenced. She posted a screenshot of the disgusting comment to her personal Instagram with the caption:
“My band is lucky enough to have some of the most awesome, supportive and respectful fans in the world and we are so excited to be in the studio making an album to share with them. Yet, on a daily basis, we still receive communications like this. These people never learn that violence against women is unacceptable. But they also never learn that women will not be shamed and silenced and made to disappear. I am not going anywhere. So bring it on, motherfuckers. Let’s see who blinks first.”
This isn’t the first time Mayberry has been forced to stand up for herself against trolls. Back in September 2013, she took to The Guardian to write a lengthily blog post about the “inappropriate” and “openly vile” comments she has to “deal with” as a female in the music industry.
There’s no word of when we’ll hear new material from Chrvches but a recent quote from the band assures us the album is “coming along nicely.”
