The city of Toronto is set to add additional bike lanes as we continue to grapple with the effects of COVID-19. Mayor John Tory confirmed that the city could add upwards of 40 kilometres of on-street bike paths as early as July 1.
Tory noted that new bike lanes are in the works for Bloor Street West from Shaw Street to Runnymede Road, as well as Danforth Avenue, and University Avenue, from Bloor to Adelaide streets.

“You will have a huge, long corridor that mirrors the transit so that for those who might be anxious about transit… they will have a place to cycle in a safe, healthy way,” Tory said in an interview with CP24.
“It was all in the plans anyway but we are just accelerating in light of what has gone on with the pandemic.”
