College Street Bar at centre of sexual assault investigation

Social media campaign and online petition calling for boycott if recommendations not met

Two men have been charged with forcible confinement, sexual assault as party to the offence with any other person, and sexual assault following an incident Toronto police say took place last Thursday at College Street Bar in Little Italy.

41-year-old Gavin MacMillan, who a Toronto Star report indicated is believed to be the owner of the establishment, and 31-year-old Carrasco Enzo Dejesus were arrested and charged after a 24-year-old woman said she was given illicit drugs and alcohol before she was assaulted on the premises of College Street Bar.

An online petition started by the The Sexual Assault Action Coalition is demanding several recommendations be met within 21 days. The recommendations include a ban on MacMillan and Dejesus interacting with customers during business hours, anti-sexual violence and anti-harassment training for staff, and a donation from the bar to “a local organization or group that supports survivors of sexual assault and violence.”

A Toronto police release is asking for anyone with information to contact police at 416-808-1400, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at, or text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637).
