Montreal-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Corey Gulkin will release her sophomore record All the Things I’ll Forget on January 26. Today, Indie88 is pleased to premiere a new video for the title track.
The video for “All the Things I’ll Forget” features super8 footage shot by Corey’s mom Cathy Gulkin in the 70s for her film school application. “I wrote the song about a collection of items I kept from a relationship – photos, letters, mementos,” Gulkin said in a release. “I couldn’t decide whether to keep them or destroy them. Part of me needed to let them go to move on from the pain from the past, but I also feared that if I let letting go of that pain that I’d be giving up a part of myself. This was my attempt at writing a goodbye song, but honestly I still have those mementos in my closet.”

Gulkin co-produced her sophomore record with Leah Dolgoy (harp, autoharp) and Sam Gleason (electric guitar, recording engineer). It’s being heralded as a “deeply personal retrospective on her recovery from an abusive relationship.” Catch Gulkin live this winter.
