Courtney Barnett has released a new cover of The Velvet Underground and Nico’s “I’ll Be Your Mirror.”

The cover comes from Verve Records’ forthcoming tribute compilation of the same name. Barnett truly pares back “I’ll Be Your Mirror” on this cover. With just an acoustic guitar and soft percussion, Barnett’s stream-of-consciousness vocals take the lead. This twangy cover shines the track in a new light entirely.

Barnett delivers famous lyrics like, “I’ll be your mirror/ Reflect what you are, in case you don’t know.”

Back in July, The National’s Matt Berninger shared a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “I’m Waiting For The Man.” Upon the tribute album’s announcement, Kurt Vile shared his rendition of “Run Run Run.” I’ll Be Your Mirror is set to feature covers from R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, Sharon Van Etten and Angel Olsen, and more.
