It has been little over four months since Gord Downie passed away due to brain cancer. In tribute to the beloved Canadian frontman, Downie will be honoured at this year’s Juno Awards on Sunday March 25th. The Tragically Hip has won 16 awards throughout their career.
Downie is to be honoured by Canadian musicians Dallas Green and Sarah Harmer.
“The last time I performed at the Juno Awards in Vancouver, Gord was standing by my side singing with me,” City and Colour singer-songwriter Green said in a release. “This performance will be with a heavy heart, but also a very proud and honoured one. Gord was the gold standard and everything that I hope to be.”
Last year, Downie was honoured with a solo win for songwriter of the year for his album Secret Path. This year he has been posthumously nominated for three awards for his last solo album, Introduce Yerself.
Don’t miss the Juno Awards, with a performance in honour of Gord Downie, on Sunday March 25th – broadcasting live at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
