Damon Albarn shares live performance video for lush new single ‘The Tower of Montevideo’

Blur and Gorillaz’s Damon Albarn has shared a live performance video for his new single “The Tower Of Montevideo.”

The track comes from his forthcoming album, The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows, out November 12th via Transgressive. “The Tower Of Montevideo” follows the release of the album’s title track, “Polaris,” “Particles,” and “Royal Morning Blue.” The lush, orchestral song is inspired by a building in the capital of Uruguay, built in the ’20s.

Alongside the track, Albarn has shared a live performance video. The moody black-and-white clip was captured on a soundstage, as Albarn performs the intimate tune. The video comes as part of Albarn’s ongoing Sublime boulevards – Performance Films series.

In addition to “The Tower Of Montevideo,” all of the other singles came accompanied by performance videos as well.

The forthcoming album was written and recorded in Iceland. The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows was originally set to be an orchestral piece inspired by the stunning landscapes of Iceland. In 2020, however, Albarn went back to the music during lockdown and developed the tracks. Now, the album explores “fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth,” according to a press release.
