Dave Grohl has finally weighed in on where he sees the future of rock music, and according to him, it lies with Billie Eilish. In a new interview with Variety, Grohl compares Eilish to his legendary former band, and cites her as evidence that rock and roll hasn’t died.

“My daughters are obsessed with Billie Eilish,” Grohl states in the interview. “The same thing is happening with her that happened with Nirvana in 1991. People say, ‘Is rock dead?’ When I look at someone like Billie Eilish, rock and roll is not close to dead!”
Grohl has praised modern stars many times in the past, and last year he even claimed that Lil Pump could be the future of punk music. “For me punk rock is about a state of independence and if that’s Lil Pump then so be it,” he stated in an interview with Music Feeds. “It’s about being free to do whatever the hell you want to do.”
