Deerhoof, Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto, and Ted Leo are among over 100 musicians who have signed an open letter pledging to boycott all Amazon festivals and events until they stop working with Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The letter, which was posted today through Fight For The Future, reveals that the boycott will continue until Amazon terminates its existing contract with ICE and other companies that “commit human rights abuses,” stops providing Cloud services to companies that help with deportations, ends projects that racially profile and discriminate such as facial recognition, and refuses to work with such companies in the future.
Signed by more than 175 musicians including: @deerhoof @tedleo @DowntownBoys @ImmortalTech @sad13 @xeniarubinos @PRIESTS_TWEET @jeffrosenstock @XiuXiuforLife @pottymouthworld @girlpool @LVLUPBAND @cloudnothings @CHAST1TYBELT @hetherrfortune @pictureplane @sammusmusic + more

“We will not allow Amazon to exploit our creativity to promote its brand while it enables attacks on immigrants, communities of color, workers and local economies,” the letter explains. “We call on all artists who believe in basic rights and human dignity to join us.”
