Donald Glover, AKA Childish Gambino, is officially joining the “Star Wars” universe.
The Acclaimed-Actor/Grammy-Nominated Artist/Award-winning Writer/Hilarious Comedian has another big asset to put on his already impressive resume. The Community star has been cast as young Lando Calrissian in the untitled Han Solo standalone film, which is for release in 2018.
The only reason I’m excited for the Han Solo movie is Donald Glover as Lando

Glover will join Alden Ehrenreich, who was previously cast as Han Solo, for the Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed film. The newest instalment in the Star Wars franchise depicts Lando in his formative years as a miscreant on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld — years before the events of The Empire Strikes Back and his rise to hero status in Return of the Jedi.

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said Directors Lord and Miller in a public statement. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”
Glover currently stars in FX’s Atlanta, which he also created, and will appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the next film in the Star Wars universe, opens in threatres this December.
