Elementary teachers at Toronto, York Region public schools to participate in one day strike on Monday

Unless a deal can be reached by the province and the union by this Friday

Elementary teachers at public schools in the Toronto District School Board and the York Region District School Board are set to participate in a one day strike on Monday, according to CityNews.

Unless a deal can be reached between the province and the union by this Friday, schools will be hit by one-day walkouts. The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has revealed that the walkout will also effect the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.

Additionally, last week, the ETFO stated that “if the government refuses to address critical issues” by January 17th, its members will begin to fully withdrawal services on a rotating basis after Monday.

So far, no bargaining dates are scheduled between now and the planned strike.
