At a live show Thursday night in Shiyuba, Japan, Father John Misty unveiled a new song.
According to the video uploader, FJM said the name of the new song is called “Mr. Tillman.” It’s a pretty upbeat tune with a seriously catchy whistling verse.
In late 2017, Tillman told NME his next album was “almost done.” The artist detailed working titles for some of the song including “Ouch, I’m Drowning,” “Dum Dum Blues,” “Well, We’re Only People And There’s Nothing Much We Can Do About It,” and “Mr Tillman, Please Exit The Lobby.” It’s unclear as to the latter is the same song that FJM performed last night.
This isn’t the first time Tillman has used his name in his work, such as “The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apt.” on 2015’s I Love You, Honeybear. He also performed under J Tillman between 2007 and 2011.
While there’s no information yet on when we can expect the new album, it’s expected to drop sometime this year and is described as “the real I Love You, Honeybear but without the cynicism,” according to Tillman. Father John Misty’s last album Pure Comedy was released early 2017.
