Father John Misty sent out a spoken-word vinyl record to fans, which announced his new album, Chloe And The Next 20th Century.
The highly anticipated new record marks the follow-up to 2018’s God’s Favorite Customer. According to Reddit, here is a transcribed version of what the message reads:
“Available April 8th, 2022 on Sub Pop and Bella Union: Father John Misty’s new album Chloe And The Next 20th Century. Get it on vinyl, CD, the other one, uh, cassette. And in beautiful deluxe hardback edition with expanded artwork and much more. Is this real? It is. This is the album. You’re listening to it right now. That’s nice. Eleven new tracks produced by Jonathan Wilson and Josh Tillman. Chloe And The Next 20th Century. It’s technically new.”

According to a recent leak from German Amazon, this might be a double album. But it seems like that info is likely false, considering there are only 12 tracks.
In November, Father John Misty teased his return with a cryptic new video. Following a slew of West Coast Shows, he shared a new video on Instagram. He wiped his Instagram clean of posts, and then dropped this monochromatic clip. While it doesn’t reveal too much information, it definitely hints at new material. The eerie black-and-white clip sees a car parked beneath hazy lighting. In the background, some ominous music plays.
Now, it seems like he’s teasing Chloe And The Next 20th Century. Between this album and 2018’s God’s Favourite Customer, FJM shared the Anthem + 3 EP and a Bandcamp Live collection. He also dropped two singles, “To S” and “To R.”
