Father John Misty is back with a brand new single called “Q4.”
The track comes from his forthcoming album, Chloë and The Next 20th Century, out April 8th via Sub Pop and Bella Union. “Q4” is a lively, lush anthem. Lyrically, Father John Misty delivers lines like, “Simone writes little of much consequence/ Unless the theater’s how you pay the rent.”

The accompanying video is directed by Grand James Wednesday. It’s a retro, black-and-white clip that calls upon the style of old films. The “Q4” video is sure to insight some nostalgia, with gritty clips of a dancer moving beneath animations.

Back in December, Father John Misty teased the album with a spoken-word vinyl record sent out to fans. The album will serve as a follow-up to 2018’s God’s Favorite Customer.
Father John Misty recorded Chloë and the Next 20th Century with Jonathan Wilson. The record comes packed with lush strings, brass, and woodwinds performed by Dan Higgins and Wayne Bergeron. Arrangements are from Drew Erickson. It’s no wonder the album’s singles have more of a cinematic edge than the rest of Tillman’s repertoire.
In addition to “Q4,” Chloë and The Next 20th Century features previously released single “Funny Girl.”
