TORONTO, ON (October 8, 2014) – Toronto radio station, Indie88 (CIND-FM), has announced the five finalists in the “Be The Voice of Indie88” contest. And it was no easy task: The station received nearly 1,500 auditions from listeners and fans from all over, each vying to win their dream job!
After carefully listening to all 1,435 auditions, the five finalists have been revealed and it’s now up to Indie88’s listeners to choose the sound of their radio station.
The grand prize winner will “Be The Voice of Indie88” – you know, that guy or girl you hear in-between songs that says the name of the radio station (and other quirky things). The “Voice” with the most votes will become the station voice with a one-year contract, including coaching, studio time, production and a $1,000 cash prize each month! The money, the fame – and it’s all up to Indie88’s fans to decide.
The five finalists are:
- Jennifer Mercer
Jen has a variety of part-time jobs, including sometimes being a Katy Perry impersonator. She’s also plays piano and Scrabble in her condo in the Humber Bay area of Toronto. - Chris Simon
Chris is “The Attendance Guy” for a public high school in Hamilton. His professional voice experience includes making announcements on the school-wide PA system. - Guillermo Albert
A married man that works to catch online scammers and enjoys peanut butter and banana sandwiches. “G” lives in a condo near the waterfront in downtown Toronto. - Liam Gadsby
A bartender and comic that enjoys cooking, biking and flying kites from Roncesvalles Village, Toronto. - Lauren Wing
An editorial assistant who loves to travel. Born in England and with stints in Singapore and Luxembourg, she moved to Canada at the age of 10. Lauren and her British accent now reside in Liberty Village, Toronto.
Fans can listen to each audition and vote for their favourite now at Indie88.com. The grand prize winner will be announced on Monday, October 27th at 8:10am on The Morning After with Brian, Matt & Candice, live on Indie88.
This isn’t the first time Indie88 has given away such an unconventional prize. Earlier this year the station made international headlines when it gave away a giant billboard in downtown Toronto in another contest where the winner was selected by fans.
