Five things to do this weekend in Toronto

You won't want to miss these exciting events!

Even though we’ve had one of the coldest fall seasons in nearly 40 years and it seems to just keep getting chillier, you won’t want to stay inside this weekend with all of the exciting events taking place across the city.

There are tons of unique things to do like a Beam Me Up Disco, a “Name That Tune” music trivia night, and a pizza battle to find the best hangover pizza in Toronto, so if you’re still looking for something to do this weekend, look no further.

Check out these five things you won’t want to miss out on this weekend in Toronto.

Beam Me Up Disco!

The Piston | December 7, 10:00 pm – 2:30 am | Cover At Door

Disco isn’t dead! Head to Beam Me Up Disco to dance along to the underrated and obscure tracks of funk, jazz, soul, boogie, rare groove, reggae, gospel & proto-house. The Piston hosts these epic dance parties every Friday night, so get ready to break out your best Hustle, Bump, and “Stayin’ Alive” moves.

Parkdale Flea Presents: A Holiday Market

Northern Contemporary Gallery | December 9 & 10, 11:00 am – 6:00 pm | Free

Get your festive shopping done at the last Parkdale Flea event of 2018, and their final market at 1266 Queen Street. After five years, the market will be moving to a new location, so this will definitely be one you won’t want to miss. The flea will be packed with amazing vendors, so grab a steaming cup of cider, fill some shopping bags, and sing along to some holiday tunes this Saturday.

Catch a Concert

Indulge in the dreamy surf rock tunes of Alvvays at the Danforth Music Hall from December 6th to December 10th, with their perfectly complimentary opener, Snail Mail. Alvvays’ latest album Antisocialites is packed with colourful noise pop and relatable, honest lyrics.

Catch Australian pop-rock outfit Gang of Youths at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on Friday, December 7th. They’ll be playing tons of chest-pounding anthems and stormy guitar tracks that’ll make for a killer live show.

The Internet will be bringing their Hive Mind Tour to Rebel on December 9th where you can catch their alternative R&B tracks. Their signature tunes veer from commercial R&B for a creative combination of unique instrumentation and playful vocals.

Music Trivia – Name That Tune

Hemingway’s | December 8, 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm | Tickets

This popular Toronto trivia event is back again, but it’s sure to sell out! If you’re an 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, and 10’s music connoisseur, this is the spot for you. You’ll have to name random facts about the tracks they play like the artist, the song title, or the next 5 lyrics. If you can answer the most questions there, then you’ll walk away with a gift basket with Hemingway’s gift certificates.

TouchBistro ChefXChange: Hangover Pizza Battle

750 Dovercourt Rd. | December 9, 12:00 – 2:00 pm | Free to attend, $15 pizzas for purchase

The TouchBistro ChefXChange is back, and now they’re looking for Toronto’s best hangover pizza.
