The weekend has arrived!
There are tons of awesome events taking place across the city, so you’re sure to have a jam packed weekend. Toronto is in for a couple of creative days with the opening weekend of DesignTO and the Toronto Light Festival at the Distillery District, but that’s not all that’s going on this weekend.

The DesignTO Festival kicks off this weekend, so design and art will be meeting across the entire city. The festival will be bringing ten full days of immersive installations, exciting exhibits, engaging talks, and more. The goal of DesignTO is to turn Toronto into a creative hub by taking design and art out of the studio and into the city.
Toronto Light Festival 2019
Distillery District | Now until March 3rd, 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm | Free
The Toronto Light Festival kicks off at the Distillery District this weekend, running all the way until March 3rd. The historic area will transform into a visual journey and allow you to experience the city in a way you never have before. The festival is set to exhibit local creativity and international artists through light installations.
Catch a Concert
Local experimental musician Mappe Of is set to bring his ambient tunes to The Drake Underground on January 18th and 19th. Mappe Of is known for their sonic textures and haunting layered vocals as they intertwine electronic instruments with trumpets, violins, guitars, and more.
On January 20th, you can catch giant pop breakout King Princess, also known as Mikaela Straus, at the Danforth Music Hall. Last year, her hit single “1950” pushed her to the top of festival lineups, and she’s already selling out venues across America and Canada. She’s rumoured to be releasing her debut album this year, so she’s sure to be playing some new tunes at this show.
DJ Skate Nights
Mod Club | January 19, 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm | Free
Head to Toronto’s block party on ice at the Harbourfront Centre! Sharpen your skates and your dance moves and hit the ice at Natrel Rink to enjoy a killer lineup of DJs that are sure to get you dancing. The event runs most Saturday nights all the way until February 16th.
Ossington Record Sale
45 Ossington Ave. | January 19, 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm | Free
The Ossington Record Sale is a local gathering of DJs and Record Collectors that will come together for an afternoon of buying, selling, and trading a variety of vinyl. From classic albums to modern hits, there will be tons of records up for sale. All vinyl will be provided by local collectors, and there will be no dealers or shop owners, just music, pals, and good times.
