FKA twigs is suing Shia LaBeouf, citing a “relentless” abusive relationship, according to the New York Times. The lawsuit, which twigs filed in Los Angeles, accuses LaBeouf of sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress.
According to the article, just after Valentine’s Day in 2019, LaBeouf was reportedly driving a car recklessly speeding toward Los Angeles with FKA twigs in the passenger’s seat. The Transformers star removed his seatbelt and “threatened to crash unless she professed her love for him.”
After begging for him to let her out of the car, he allegedly pulled over at a gas station and she took her bags from the trunk. LaBeouf followed and assaulted her, throwing her against the car and screaming in her face, then forcing her back into the car.
This is absolutely horrifying, and I’m so heartbroken for twigs. I’m glad she’s free of him.

At the time, they had been returning from a trip to the desert, where LaBeouf had been aggressive toward twigs the whole trip, according to the lawsuit. Once, LaBeouf even woke her up in the middle of the night, choking her.
The lawsuit also says that LaBeouf knowingly gave FKA twigs a sexually transmitted infection.
The lawsuit says that 34-year-old LaBeouf abused FKA twigs physically, emotionally, and mentally throughout their almost-year-long relationship. The Magdalene artist decided to come forward to show that even a critically acclaimed artist could take part in a cycle like that, according to an interview.
“Her aim in coming forward..was to explain how even a critically acclaimed artist with money, a home and a strong network of supporters could be caught in such a cycle. I’d like to be able to raise awareness on the tactics that abusers use to control you.” https://t.co/CinFzXn5j5

“I’d like to be able to raise awareness on the tactics that abusers use to control you and take away your agency,” FKA twigs says.
LaBeouf responded to the accusations on Thursday from both FKA twigs and another former girlfriend who has also accused him of abusive behaviour.
“I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behaviour made them feel,” LaBeouf wrote in an email to The New York Times. “I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”
