Foo Fighters release new metal song ‘March of the Insane’ under the moniker Dream Widow

Foo Fighters have shared a new song under the moniker Dream Widow called “March of the Insane.”

The band go extreme-metal on this new thrasher. Channeling the sounds of Slayer or Venom, it’s got some metal vocals from Dave Grohl. Lyrically, he wails lines like, “Sing in a villainous choir/ Join in a chorus of pain.” “March of the Insane” boasts some crushing riffs and comes accompanied by a blood-splattered lyric video.

With Foo Fighters’ new horror movie, Studio 666, just around the corner, it’s likely that Dream Widow are a fictional band from the film. According to the YouTube description, the song is from Dream Widow’s “never-released self-titled album.”

More about Studio 666:

“After decades of ridiculous music videos and numerous music documentaries under our collective belts, it was finally time to take it to the next level… A full length feature horror comedy film,” Grohl explains.

“Like most things Foo, Studio 666 began with a far fetched idea that blossomed into something bigger than we ever imagined possible. Filmed at the same house where we recorded our latest album Medicine at Midnight (told you that place was haunted!) we wanted to recapture the classic magic that all of our favourite rock and roll movies had, but with a twist: hilarious gore that fucking ROCKS. and Now, with the help of Tom Ortenberg and the team at Open Road Films we can finally let this cat out of the bag after keeping it our best kept secret for two years. Be ready to laugh, scream, and headbang in your popcorn. Studio 666 will fuck you up.”

It seems like “March of the Insane” is a perfect fit for the upcoming flick, which follows Dave Grohl and co. as they’re tormented by demons while making an album.

Studio 666 is out in theatres on February 25th.
