Prior to releasing their 2017 self-titled album, Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs had struggled to capture the sound they felt their new songs deserved. They actually recorded it twice before bringing in producer Alexandre Bonenfant to help get them where they wanted to be. The result was a more polished record, steeped in 70s glam and power-pop, that allowed Sam’s songs to really come to life.
Frontman Sam Coffey and guitarist Liam Doyle sat down with Indie88 to talk about the gear that brings their sound to life. From Sam’s affinity for vintage guitars to the story behind Liam’s double-neck guitar, the guys spilled the goods on what helps make up their classic rock-inspired sound.
Gearheads is presented with Cosmo Music.
