Gold & Youth are the latest artists to participate in our recurring Live From Home series.
The Vancouver band have delivered a captivating rendition of their recently released singles, “The Worse The Better.” During their Live From Home performance, frontperson Matthew Lyall performs along to the track beneath trippy effects. It makes for a truly psychedelic experience. With deep, captivating croons, you’ll want to watch the performance of this catchy new tune again and again.
“‘The Worse the Better’ is a fun little bop about water-sliding into the abyss,” Lyall explains. “A woozy anthem for the downwardly mobile about the crushing banality of evil rendered by the acid vat of late-stage capitalism as we work dead-end jobs at the end of history and pray for some technocratic savior to build us a biodome on Mars. Loud and fast and then sputtering and wheezing, kind of like a dream machine going kaputt as it runs out of gas. Truly the feel-bad hit of the summer! Tell all your friends.”

“The Worse The Better” comes from Gold & Youth’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Dream Baby, out November 5th via Paper Bag Records.
Lyall wrote and recorded Dream Baby in his apartment over two years with bandmates Louise Burns, Jeff Mitchelmore, and Murray McKenzie. By writing in isolation, Lyall brought a newfound vulnerable, stream-of-consciousness sound to the album.
