Looks like there’s no stopping the Gorillaz.
The English virtual band put out their fifth studio album Humanz earlier this spring, and have been releasing new content ever since. Shortly after it’s release, Damon Albarn told Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show that he has another 40 to 45 songs he was readying to release over the coming months.
Now it appears as if that plan has changed slightly, with the potential of an entire new album in the coming year. Visual collaborator Jamie Hewlett dropped the news when speaking to TASCHEN this week, saying “We’re going straight into the album with no break.”
“Usually we have a good five-year break between each album but we decided: ‘You know what? Let’s keep going’ because there’s ideas for a few more albums so we’re going to go straight into that. So that will be all of next year and probably the year beyond that.”
