Panic ensued late at night earlier this week after it was revealed that lead singer Damon Albarn accidentally left a laptop, the contents of which included the master copy of an upcoming Gorillaz album, in the back of a taxi.
According to UK publication The Mirror, the laptop was forgotten in the cab after Albarn spent a night out drinking at London’s Groucho Club.
A source then went on to describe the event, calling it “a disaster,” and that the laptop contained more than just music.

“It was a disaster,” the source said. “Damon oversees everything and, with Gorillaz, it’s not just audio – it’s the expensive visuals as well. The laptop’s contents are priceless… But after a night at Groucho, Damon accidentally left it in a cab and caused a huge panic.”
The source also explained that this album is very political, and contains many of Albarn’s opinions on Brexit, which he delivered a speech against during February’s BRIT Awards.
“It’s a really personal project because the album is very politically charged,” said the source. “A lot of his opinions on Brexit filter through it.”
Upon discovery of the laptop, the taxi driver returned it to Albarn.
The new album is anticipated to be released to the public sometime next month.
