The band announced Frusciante’s return on Instagram, revealing that his replacement Josh Klinghoffer is departing. “The Red Hot Chili Peppers announce that we are parting ways with our guitarist of the past ten years, Josh Klinghoffer,” the statement reads. “Josh is a beautiful musician who we respect and love. We are deeply grateful for our time with him, and the countless gifts he shared with us.”

Frusciante confirmed his departure from the Red Hot Chili Peppers in December of 2009, explaining that he had actually left the group the year prior.
