Montreal singer-songwriter Gus Englehorn is back with an introductory video, “A Brief History of Gus Englehorn.”
The new clip is inspired by Leonard Cohen’s NFB documentary, Ladies and Gentlemen…Mr. Leonard Cohen. Directed by Estée Prada (Gus’ wife and drummer), “A Brief History of Gus Englehorn” sees the artist showing off his skills from when he used to be a professional snowboarded.
“I thought it would be fun to shoot a documentary on film after watching Ladies and Gentlemen… Mr. Leonard Cohen,” Prada explains. “The whole Canadian Film Board archive is a real treasure trove of inspiration. Originally, we were going to get a friend to narrate, but the city was in lockdown so Gus had to do it himself – it turned out to be the funniest part.”

“The part I liked the best was trying to find my voice as a narrator,” Gus adds of the video. “I wanted the pace to be very deliberate. I was also excited to share some of my favourite snowboarding shots with the music community, demystify my boarding origins and take people through my transition into songwriting.”
Gus Englehorn is readying the release of his sophomore album, Dungeon Master, out April 29th via Secret City Records. The album features the previously released “Exercise your demons.”
