Hamilton city councilors voted unanimously on Thursday to create a Hamilton sign and place it at city hall downtown, says the CBC. The sign will be 2.25 metres tall and 20 metres wide, according to a city report. The photo friendly city feature will cost $250,000 and is being funded privately.
Just like the Toronto sign, they will be hollow and have coloured lights, allowing it to be holiday friendly. This seems to be why people are upset as it looks too much like the Toronto sign. Who cares? The Toronto sign is a copy of the IAmsterdam sign, along with various other cities. Let’s just be happy for our Hamilton neighbours!
Even the mayor is being salty.
It's a sign of the times when every city wants its own Toronto sign… https://t.co/nEQkEjSBae

Seems like we're just copying Toronto's sign? With the art movement in Hamilton I'm sure an amazing design of our own could be found easily

Lots of things right and wrong about the sign but it is hardly 'unique'

Yes "unique" isn't exactly how I would describe it either.
