Hamilton’s Supercrawl cancels 2020 festival

They're still planning to host physically distanced events this year

Due to the spread of COVID-19, organizers of Hamilton, Ontario’s Supercrawl have announced that their 2020 edition will not be taking place this year.

Organizers were “crushed” to announce that the free event would not be taking over Hamilton’s downtown core as usual this September, but they’re still working towards holding a physically distanced concert series in the fall.

“Our team is capable and creative, but with public health officials still guarded in their optimism and measured in their steps to open social spaces up again, we have determined – in close consultation with our board of directors and after much deliberation – that we cannot move ahead as planned,” Supercrawl’s statement details.

Festival director Tim Potocic told Exclaim! that the fall concert series will feature “live, physically distanced, low-capacity gigs at area venues, which will also be streamed online.” These events will take place at locations like Mills Hardware, the Bridgeworks, and New Vision Music Hall.
