Someone or some people have hacked HBO and are allegedly in possession of unreleased episodes of Ballers and Room 104, as well as a script for next week’s Game of Thrones episode.
HBO has reportedly confirmed that yes, the network has been hacked and data was stolen. However, they have not commented on what was stolen and how much. The hackers themselves are claiming to have stolen about 1.5 terabytes of data, which could also include employee information along with unreleased episodes of various shows.

The following is an email that the hacker/s sent to various news outlets last night:
“Hi to all mankind. The greatest leak of cyber space era is happening. What’s its name? Oh I forget to tell. Its HBO and Game of Thrones……!!!!!! You are lucky to be the first pioneers to witness and download the leak. Enjoy it & spread the words. Whoever spreads well, we will have an interview with him. HBO is falling.”
The email also included a phone number that, as Vanity Fair reported, leads to HBO Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications Jeff Cusson’s office. A twitter account that the hacker/s was using to spread the word has also been suspended.
HBO provided the following statement:
“HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information. We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.”
