Update (10/26/16): Royal Canoe has created an Indiegogo campaign to help replace some of the instruments lost in the theft. They are looking to raise $26,000 to keep their current tour going. Check here if you would like to donate.
Winnipeg band Royal Canoe need all the help they can get right now. The band’s trailer, containing all of their instruments has been stolen right out of a Sheraton Hotel parking lot in Montreal they were staying at.
The band took to Facebook Monday morning as they found that their 6×12 Aggasiz trailer was unhitched and stolen the previous night, along with $82,000 worth of gear including synthesizers, drum kits, guitars and pedals. They posted to Facebook asking fans to keep their eyes out for their stolen gear showing in online marketplaces and music stores in the Montreal and Toronto vicinity.
They have been forced to cancel a show in Saint Catharines Tuesday (as well a session with this station), while their Wednesday night show at Lee’s Palace remains up in the air.
Take a look at the list of stolen gear below, and if you see any or their Aggasiz trailer (license plate Z063G), call the police and notify the band.
This is the second time they have been robbed, previously in 2013, the band’s passports and personal belongings were stolen from their tour van while on tour in Chicago.
