Here’s what’s open and closed over the holidays

Be prepared from Christmas Eve until New Year's Day!

Get ready, Toronto! The holidays are just around the corner.

It might feel like everything is closed over the holidays, but plenty of services and businesses in the city continue to operate during the festive season. Sometimes it’s tough to find what is and isn’t open during the “Most Wonderful Time Of The Year,” but we’ve got your backs.

From the TTC to the Royal Ontario Museum, check out this list of what’s open and closed from Christmas Eve until New Year’s Day.

The TTC

Christmas Eve
The TTC will be running its regular service on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day
On December 25th, it will be running on Sunday Service, which means any routes that do not normally operate on Sundays will not, and subway service will start around 6 am, running every 4-5 minutes until about 1:30 am.

Boxing Day
The TTC will be running on Holiday Service on Boxing Day, which means all TTC routes will be running on their Sunday service schedules, but will start earlier at about 6:00 am.

New Year’s Eve
The TTC will be offering free rides all night on New Year’s Eve. You can receive free bus, streetcar, and subway rides from 7:00 p.m. on December 31st until 7:00 a.m. on January 1st.

New Year’s Day
On January 1st, it will be running on Sunday Service, which means any routes that do not normally operate on Sundays will not, and subway service will start around 6 am, running every 4-5 minutes until about 1:30 am.

 

GO Transit

Christmas Eve
GO Transit will be operating on its Early homebound schedule on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day
On Christmas Day, GO Transit will run on the Sunday schedule, which means any GO Transit routes that do not offer weekend service will not be running.

Boxing Day
GO Transit will be running on the Saturday schedule, which means any GO Transit routes that do not offer weekend service will not be running.

New Year’s Eve
You can catch a GO Train according to the Early Homebound and Late-night service on New Year’s Eve, and there will also be free rides after 7:00 pm.

New Year’s Day
GO Transit will be running on the Sunday Schedule on New Year’s Day as well.

 

LCBO

Christmas Eve
9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Christmas Day
Closed

Boxing Day
Closed

New Year’s Eve
9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

New Year’s Day
Closed

 

Canada Post

Christmas Eve
Canada Post will be operating on regular hours on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day
All Canada Post locations will be closed on December 25th.

Boxing Day
All Canada Post locations will be closed on Boxing Day as well.

New Year’s Eve
Canada Post will be open regular hours on New Year’s Eve.

New Year’s Day
All Canada Post locations will be closed on January 1st.

 

Toronto Eaton Centre

Christmas Eve
Open for the last minute shoppers from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm.

Christmas Day
The Eaton Centre will be closed on Christmas Day.

Boxing Day
If you want to brave the Boxing Day madness, the Eaton Centre will be open from 7:00 am until 9:30 pm.

New Year’s Eve
On New Year’s Eve, it will be open from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm.

New Year’s Day
The Eaton Centre will be open from 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

 

Yorkdale Mall

Christmas Eve
Open from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm on December 24th.

Christmas Day
Yorkdale will be closed on Christmas Day.

Boxing Day
In honour of one of Canada’s biggest sale days, Yorkdale will be open for extended hours from 8:00 am until 11:00 pm.

New Year’s Eve
Yorkdale will be open on New Year’s Eve from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm.

New Year’s Day
Yorkdale will be closed on January 1st.

 

Nathan Phillips Square Skating

No need to fear, hockey players and figure skaters alike! Nathan Phillips Square will be open during its regular hours throughout the holiday season, so you can enjoy the heartwarming, festive activity of skating on Toronto’s iconic pond at Nathan Phillips Square.

 

Ripley’s Aquarium

Ripley’s Aquarium will also be open during its regular hours throughout the holiday season, except on New Year’s Eve. On December 31st, Ripley’s will close at 6:00 pm unless you have tickets to their New Year’s Eve party.

 

The Royal Ontario Museum

Christmas Eve
The ROM will be operating during its regular hours on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day
The ROM will be closed on December 25th.

Boxing Day
On Boxing Day, it will be open from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm.

New Year’s Eve
The ROM will be open from 10:00 am until 5:30 pm unless you have tickets to their New Year’s Eve party.

New Year’s Day
On New Year’s Day, it will be open from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm.
