Indie-rockers Hippo Campus are back with their second single “Sex Tape” from their forthcoming EP Good Dog, Bad Dream.
Good Dog, Bad Dream is out this Friday (August 6) but first the band are sharing another preview. “Sex Tape” arrives alongside a music video directed by Joe Pease, that sees a collage of colourful imagery featuring cut out visuals of the band themselves.
Listen to “Sex Tape” below.
The new single is the follow-up to the group’s previously released single “Bad Dream Baby”. Similar to “Sex Tape,” the vibrant track deals with topics such as the death of a childhood dog, divorce, parental relationships and religion. Lead singer Jake Luppen revealed the origins behind “Bad Dream Baby” stating,
“The lyrics are a stream of consciousness, daring between my complex relationship with my father, a Britney Spears documentary, and some older men at Grumpy’s (my favourite bar in Minneapolis) who used to hit on me. The hook references my exit from the Mormon religion when I was 15 and the isolation felt during quarantine and the death of the dog my mom got me during my parents’ intense divorce.”
Most recently, Hippo Campus has announced a number of tour dates across North America. On March 9th 2022, they will be performing in Toronto at the Danforth Music Hall.
Good Dog, Bad Dream will arrive Friday, August 6 via Grand Jury Music.
