“Crazy-catchy melodies, raging hooks and riffs seal the deal” – Spin Magazine
Hollerado (Menno Versteeg, Dean Baxter, Nixon Boyd and brother Jake Boyd) formed in Ottawa in 2007. Their raucous live shows (self-described as “elementary school recess with beer”) led to their debut album, “Record in a Bag”, in 2010. They won the Emerging Artist Award at the CMW Radio Music Awards and were nominated for the Best New Group Juno.
Making great music was supported by making great videos – the video for “Americanarama” has over 1 million views on Youtube. They’ve toured the world and played with Weezer, The Flaming Lips, and Passion Pit.
Their new single, “Pick Me Up” is out on iTunes, and their second album “White Paint” will be out on Royal Mountain Records in February.
Catch Hollerado at the Sound Academy on the 15th with Tokyo Police Club. In the new year, they will be touring with Billy Talent. Their tour rider includes requests for “12 beers, light and crappy like Budweiser; organic cold cuts; “a used book that is awesome”; and “if the promoter or sound person or someone has a dog, we would love to take it for a walk.” (See the full rider on their Facebook page.)
