If you break up your online series binge-watching by taking in a movie before moving onto another television show, then count yourself among the majority of Netflix subscribers.
Netflix analyzed the viewing data of over 86 million users around the world between January 2016 and October 2016 and the results showed that subscribers tend to break up series binge-watching spells with a movie.
Upon finishing a series, 59 per cent of users took a break, typically lasting three days, before diving into another show. More than half (61 per cent) of those subscribers opted to watch a movie in between series. From that data, Netflix found some patterns in viewing habits. Here’s a look at some common pairings among shows and subsequent films viewed upon completing a series.
“It’s interesting that in this golden age of television, movies are consistently in demand on Netflix,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos in a release. “What we’ve come to figure out is that movies are really an important part of people’s viewing routines and complementary to the way they watch and enjoy TV.”
