Major changes are coming to King Street.
City council voted 35-4 in favour of the King Street Pilot, a project that would prioritize streetcars on one of Toronto’s busiest streets.
Written by city planners, the plan is going to change King Street from Bathurst to Jarvis with the goal of increasing the speed of which people move across the city.
Though cars will be allowed on King Street, they will be forced to turn right at every intersection. This also means 180 parking spots will be removed from King st.
Mayor John Tory also put forward a late night exemption for licensed taxi drivers to use King st between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., that passed 38-1, according to CBC.
The plan is to take in effect this Fall.
