Amnesty International has launched a new campaign in Belgium that features Iggy Pop claiming that “Justin Beiber is the future of rock and roll.”
The powerful images also feature the Dalai Lama claiming “A man who does not have a Rolex watch at 50 years old has failed in his life” and Karl Lagerfeld being forced to say “The height of elegance is a Hawaiian shirt with flip-flops.” The message of these posters is, “Torture a man and he will tell you anything,” explained by Philippe Hensmans, director of Amnesty International’s French Belgian section.
“We can’t imagine Iggy Pop saying that Justin Bieber is the future of rock’n’roll,” he admitted. “Governments that use torture … claim these techniques give them precious information, but history has shown that tortured people are usually willing to say anything at all to make the pain stop.”
There is not word on whether or not these ads will expand outside of Belgium.
