Indie88 Premiere: A.M. Boys share lyric video for smooth new single ‘Give Me Time’

A.M. Boys, made up of John Blonde and Chris Moore, have shared a lyric video for their new single “Give Me Time,” premiering now on Indie88.

The track serves as the third single from their forthcoming debut album, Distance Decay, out June 3rd. On “Give Me Time,” A.M. Boys channel a retro-futuristic sound. Drawing on a gritty, driving percussion line, atmospheric synths, and silky vocals, the track is sure to get you bopping along.

“‘Give Me Time’ started as a live improv during an after party at our recording studio, Glowmatic Sound. Chris’ beat got everyone moving,” Blonde explains. “I had lyrics in a journal and they fit well into the groove right away. I think it’s a song about resilience and patience. When we recorded the album version, I added the final lyrics. I had recently read a short story by Truman Capote that inspired a line in the second verse. Specifically to A.M. Boys, as long as we stay curious we have everything.”

“Like many of the songs on Distance Decay, ‘Give Me Time’ started life as a 20-minute-plus jam,” Moore adds. “A few weeks later, we went back into the studio and recorded a new version that expanded on the best parts of the original jam.”

The forthcoming debut A.M. Boys album is all about intimate, minimal instrumentation. Written during darkly lit late night jam sessions, the album was influenced by post-punk and cold wave sounds.

“We knew we didn’t want to layer too much, we felt that the songs sounded stronger with less,” Blonde says of the album. “A lot of modern music can be fussy and cluttered, we wanted to present the music simply, gaining a transparent power.”
