Toronto indie band Blimp Rock has taken the idea of a fresh start to a whole new level. In the midst of releasing new music, the band has announced that they will be releasing their upcoming album on June 16, Soap Opera, in a bar of soap in hopes of scrubbing clean of their previous decision to unsuccessfully sue the Blue Jays.
New music begins with their single “Dear Science,” a quirky, lovable single that truly does signal a fresh start for the band. No, they are nowhere near the $700K needed to host a concert on a blimp above Lake Ontario (look it up), but they are promising some fun new music in the near future and that’s all we really care about.
According to the band, “Dear Science” is “a duet between Blimp Rock’s lead singer Peter Demakos and theoretical physicist Drew Jamieson. It pits the ‘up in the clouds’ worldview of Demakos’ against Jamieson’s confidence in the scientific method.” Listen to the new single below.
